Thanksgiving 2019

This Thanksgiving was really good, didn't get any photos really-just one with my cell of three of the kids as I was gathering them up to go celebrate another feeding frenzy at my mom's house.

I didn't have Weston, Xander of Olivia for Thanksgiving this year, or I should say WE didn't have them.  I don't know why I write my blogs sometimes like I am a single parent because I most certainly am not a single mom anymore.

Anyway(s), as I like to say.....Thursday I got up at 4am and put on a huge giant turkey.  I did a Walmart grocery pick up, to get a nice small turkey so my husband could use the turkey fryer and I wouldn't have to fool with it.  But no, my shopper got me a 21 pounder-way to big for the fryer so I put it on my roasting pan, turned it on and let it be.  Easy enough.  The rest of the food was easy, ww friendly & actually really tasty!

I made:

  • Turkey (just rubbed poulty seasoning, salt & pepper on it-roasted in roaster for 5 hrs. at 325)
  • Ham (just heated precooked ham-no topping)
  • Mashed Potatoes (russets, light sour cream, salt & pepper, butter)
  • Sweet Potato Casserole (sweet potatoes, vanilla, butter, brown sugar, s&p, pecans)
  • Dressing (recipe here from Skinnytaste.com)
  • Gravy (drippings, flour, chicken broth)
  • Acre Peas (chicken broth)
Jessica brought, collard greens and Debbie brought rolls, lemon bars and pumpkin bars.  Delish.

Friday, my husband went oystering with my step dad most of the day, and I stayed home and did all the dishes from the day before and laundry (shewww).  Saturday, gathered up the kids and as mentioned below went to my moms for the day (and most of the evening) to celebrate with them.  We had my mother in law come with us, and stay the night so we were able to spend the entire day with her yesterday as well.

It has been a family packed couple of days, and it has been fantastic.  I have enjoyed every second of it.  And I really do feel blessed.

My mother in law asked me yesterday, while we were sitting around what my new years resolution was going to be, and I didn't really have a good answer for her.  I am going to see if I can come up with something good and really stick to it and make some changes in my life, much needed I am sure-and it will not be weight related. LOL!
